SCHEDULE OF WEEKLY SESSIONS

Each week has a different theme! Our counselors will customize the activities and crafts to suit all ages.

Week 1: June 26–30  Nature Detectives

  • Campers will discover the forest in a way they never have before! This week is all about discovery, bringing your child closer to nature and engaging their curiosity about the world around them. Through science we will spend the week solving the mysteries of our forest, exploring the Weis property and learning the internal systems that keep this ecosystem alive. Campers will take a close look at the forest floor, track animals, identify animal tracks and scat, build ‘nests’, dissect logs and identify plants, all in the pursuit of science!

Week 2*: July 5–7 (3 days) Weis Through the Decades

  • Weis Through the Decades: We are so lucky to have our nature center located on such a history rich property. This week we will take the campers through the decades learning, the different games, activities, and styles ca  mpers have been doing here throughout the years. Filled with special guest appearances, historic photos, and a new understanding of our area during a different era.

Week 3: July 10–14  Wilderness Survival

  • Every camper’s dream... to survive in the wild! Campers will have the chance to get down and dirty with survival. Learning the dynamic techniques and strategies of survival, your camper will enjoy learning the basics of wilderness first aid, finding their way out of the woods, building effective shelters, fire building basics, and other useful skills.

Week 4: July 17-21  Keepers of the Forest

  • Stewardship is an important part of valuing nature and keeping the resources of the earth healthy. This week we will engage campers in a variety of stewardship activities around the property. Campers will have the chance to plant, pull, and grow - but they might not be the only warriors on the property that day! Using the skills they gain through their projects, campers will work together to create a plan that will help save the forest!

Week 5: July 24–28  Ancient Times

  • Let’s take it even further back! Campers will explore the prehistoric lay of the land, learning about the different species that walked the Northern Highlands Region. Exploring the geological significance of our rocks and spending some quality times searching, cataloging, and discovering the use of some ‘ancient artifacts’.

Week 6: July 31–August 4  Imaginarium

  • The natural world has been the inspiration for countless works of art throughout the world. This week is your child’s chance to channel their inner artist and discover some creative, nature-based art forms. Campers will have the chance to perform, write, create- and have fun!
