More About Giselle Cuevas

Giselle received her BA in Fine Arts from Montclair State University. She’s an experienced bilingual educator in the Arts, farm-based education, and yoga & mindfulness. Prior to being an educator, Giselle was an art teacher for Riverdale Arts and an intern in multiple art galleries such as Edward Hopper House in Nyack, NY and Allied Arts in Bellingham, WA. She created her own curriculum, connecting yoga and mindfulness through art and nature. Through art and farm-based education, she learned the value and need for growing cities to integrate sustainable gardening within the community and school setting.

Giselle has rooted herself in the study and advocacy of community work for over 4 years. Within the last few years, Giselle had the opportunity to travel and live in different places around the world. During her travels, she had the opportunity to take courses and work on permaculture farms and Earthships. Permaculture is a self-sufficient agricultural farm that works with the ecosystem. Earthships are off the grid homes made out of recyclable and landfill items. Giselle was also an Assistant Farmer and Educator at Grow it Green Morristown, which is the largest public school garden in New Jersey. In addition, she is certified in Little Flower Yoga (Level 1-3), has a substitute teaching certification (Passaic & Morris Counties, NJ) and a Permaculture design certification.

By integrating yoga and mindfulness, Giselle’s goal is to motivate and inspire children to reach their highest potential through creativity and utilizing what we have in nature.

We are excited to introduce a new program partner for Fall 2018: Giselle Cuevas and Eclectic Kids! Giselle teaches a fun weekday program for children ages 3-12, which combines yoga activities and games, nature, sound and art. The program combines the 5 elements of the "Little Flower Yoga" and mindfulness methodology (Connect, Breath, Move, Focus and Relax) with an eclectic twist based on Giselle's unique background and experience with fine arts and farm-based education. Giselle's class is filled with lots of excitement, including games such as freeze yoga, boat pose ball pass, obstacle courses and soundscapes. It also includes a creative and fun way to create art using what we have in nature!
