Summer 2019 Highlands Expedition Nature Day Camp

"The building blocks of self-esteem are belonging, learning, and contributing. Camps offer unique opportunities for children to succeed in these three vital areas and even beyond home and school."

Michael Popkin, Ph.D., family therapist & founder of Active Parenting

We are excited to offer a NEW 1 week program for older campers ages 12-14! This new program will feature more in-depth activities, explorations and concepts, as we immerse our campers in nature, focus on place-based adventures, and encourage creativity through featured daily lessons, activities, games and special guests.

The goal of our Highlands Expedition Camp is to immerse campers in discovery of our local ecosystems, to allow them to learn about their backyard ecology and gain a sense a responsibility towards stewardship of that land. There will be guided lessons through discussion, games and crafts, and encouragement of individual learning through journaling and research.

Our goal is to create a safe and supportive space for campers to express themselves, build confidence, grow friendships and have FUN - and learn some science along the way. By engaging campers in outdoor learning, we hope to provide them with an unforgettable summer camp experience and a lifelong connection to the world around them.

The 152-acre property features a historic main building, picnic grove, large recreational field, covered pavilion, fire circle, hiking trails, raingarden, and a brook for nature programs and exploring. Our site is also ideally situated adjacent to the Highlands Natural Pool for swimming and Norvin Green State Forest for additional explorations!

DATE/TIME: Monday, August 19 - Friday, August 23, 9:00am-3:00pm

We also have a 6-week nature camp for 6-12 year olds!
